چکیده

This paper analyses the output signal-to-noise ratio for a standard noise reduction scheme based on the multichannel Wiener filter and for an integrated active noise control and noise reduction scheme based on the filteredX multichannel Wiener filter, both applied in a hearing aid framework that includes the effects of signal leakage through an open fitting and secondary path effects. In previous work, integrating noise reduction and active noise control has been shown to allow to compensate for effects of signal leakage and secondary path effects. These experimental results are now verified theoretically. The output signal-to-noise ratios are derived under a single speech source scenario. Theoretical results are then compared to simulations for a single noise source scenario and a multiple noise sources scenario. Theoretical Performance Analysis of ANC-Motivated Noise Reduction Algorithms for Open-Fitting Hearing Aids

Existing noise reduction techniques for open-fitting hearing aids typically disregard the occurrence of signal leakage through the openfitting, leading to a degraded noise reduction performance. Recent miniaturization advances enable to incorporate an internal microphone in the ear mould, which is able to record this signal leakage. Recently, feedforward and combined feedforward-feedback active...

A Novel Frequency Domain Linearly Constrained Minimum Variance Filter for Speech Enhancement

A reliable speech enhancement method is important for speech applications as a pre-processing step to improve their overall performance. In this paper, we propose a novel frequency domain method for single channel speech enhancement. Conventional frequency domain methods usually neglect the correlation between neighboring time-frequency components of the signals. In the proposed method, we take...

A New Method for Speech Enhancement Based on Incoherent Model Learning in Wavelet Transform Domain

Quality of speech signal significantly reduces in the presence of environmental noise signals and leads to the imperfect performance of hearing aid devices, automatic speech recognition systems, and mobile phones. In this paper, the single channel speech enhancement of the corrupted signals by the additive noise signals is considered. A dictionary-based algorithm is proposed to train the speech...

Effect of Noise Type and Signal-to-Noise Ratio on the Effectiveness of Noise Reduction Algorithm in Hearing Aids: An Acoustical Perspective

Purpose: The study evaluated factors that influence the effectiveness of noise reduction (NR) algorithm in hearing aids, through acoustical measures. Methods: Factorial design was employed. Study sample: The output from hearing aid, with and without NR at three signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) with five types of noise, was recorded. The effect of noise reduction was studied through objective measur...
